Aligning body, mind, and heart to inspire a more connected and compassionate world.
It all begins with you...
Our intention is to create a more peaceful, compassionate, and loving world through the body-mind-heart practices of yoga, mindfulness and somatic education. Through these practices, we inspire a deeper connection to oneself, and from the connection, a deeper understanding of others and the world.
Yoga. Somatics. Life.

The Heart of Teaching is a yoga school and education program dedicated to teaching and training of yoga and offering yoga and mindfulness in schools. The Heart of Teaching, founded and operated by Mary Borton, E-RYT 500, a lifelong student of yoga who has been teaching yoga for over a decade. With a foundation in traditional and conventional yoga perspectives and extended knowledge in somatics, human development, and mindfulness, The Heart of Teaching programs offers physical, intellectual, and experiential opportunities to practice, teach, and share yoga from the spirit of the heart.
A teacher of teachers, Mary offers yoga teacher training, continuing education programs, mentorships, and workshops to encourage yoga instructors to stay connected to their own practice to enhance and expand their abilities and offerings. Mary remains connected to her community, offering several yoga classes in and around her hometown. Learn more about yoga offerings here.
Before becoming a yoga teacher, Mary devoted 15 years to education in school libraries. She now finds herself back in the school setting, teaching yoga to both teachers and students. Learn about yoga in the classroom here.
Over the past decade, Mary has been teaching yoga, training teachers, and working in schools to create awareness of the benefits of yoga and mindfulness, encouraging both students and educators to care for themselves in ways that allow them to live life in a healthy, positive, and compassionate way.
"I have practiced with Mary for over 10 years, and from the very first class I have learned from her knowledge and come to rely on this wisdom to heal myself by putting the knowledge into practice. As I continue to practice both at home and with the many teachers Mary has taught, I appreciate her teaching and encouraging others to build their own practice and teaching. This is a gift that keeps on giving to our community."
